Fundorena
Bad weather? This can’t spoil a Black Forest vacation with children. After all, there is the Fundorena. It offers a lot of indoors fun and action. This includes:

Fun-Park Hochschwarzwald
Have you ever heard of loopy ball, soccer golf or soccer billiards? Then off to the Fun Park Hochschwarzwald, a special treat for the whole family. Take the lift up the mountain and zip back down. And not only in winter with snow, but also in summer – with the 104 meter long tubing track.
If you want to see more, just take a Segway or an e-bike. For refreshments you can enjoy homemade cakes and tarts or Black Forest specialties in the farmers’ café. You can reach the fun park by car in just 8 minutes.
Europapark Rust
The Europapark in Rust is Germany’s largest amusement park and is certainly one of the most famous attractions in the region. Here you will find everything that is fun for young and old, from pirate adventures to spectacular roller coasters. The Europapark is about 80 kilometers away from the Schwarzenbach and you get there in only 80 minutes by car.
Galaxy in the swimming paradise Black Forest
If you don’t want to do without waterslides during your vacation with children, you won’t want to miss the Galaxy. Here the aqua-action rages on 23 high-tech slides as well as in the wave pool “Wild Surge”. The attractions are divided into 3 levels: Family (ages 0 to 12), Action (from age 7) and Extreme (from age 13). The Galaxy is part of the swimming paradise Black Forest. While the children are enjoying the slides, parents relax in the large wellness oasis with an impressive sauna program and a wonderful open-air relaxation area. The “Badeparadies Schwarzwald” (Black Forest waterpark) is located in Titisee-Neustadt, about 11 kilometers away from the Schwarzenbach.
Swimming and water sports in the Black Forest lakes
For many people a vacation with children is not complete without water sports. Good thing that there are so many beautiful lakes just a stone’s throw away.
- 1.3 kilometers distance: At the beautiful natural Windgfäll pond you will find a nice beach and you can do stand-up paddling there among other things. And afterwards: A cool drink and a little refreshment on the sun terrace of the Blackthorn Seehof. A real treat.
- 4 kilometers away: the Schluchsee. The largest lake of the Black Forest offers everything for the lovers of water sports, e.g. a sailing school or even a diving center. There are also several guarded and many freely accessible bathing places. The main village Schluchsee is 9 kilometers away.
- 8 kilometers away: the Titisee – the bathing area is unattended. There is also a stand-up paddling station.

Animals and Nature
Action Forest Climbing
Climbing action for young and old can be found in the Action Forest in Titisee-Neustadt. Here you can experience the forest from the perspective of a squirrel during an adventurous journey through the treetops of the Black Forest.
Exciting tasks in breathtaking heights await you on courses of varying difficulty. Of course, at all times secured by safety equipment and under the guidance of experienced safety trainers.
The Action Forest is suitable for children from 1.30 meters tall. Children under 12 years of age may only climb when accompanied by an adult, with a maximum of 2 children per adult. The climbing forest is about 12 kilometers away from the Schwarzenbach.
Pony Dome
A pony ride should not be missing from a vacation with children. This is possible, for example, at the Pony Dome within the Fundorena – thanks to a 400 square meter riding hall kids can take a ride even when the weather is bad.
The offer ranges from classic pony rides for children from the age of 3 to rides for advanced riders in the beautiful nature of the Feldberg. The Pony Dome is only 9 kilometers from your accommodation.
Steinwasen Park
Child friendly attractions await you in Steinwasen Park – in the middle of the beautiful nature of the Black Forest. Especially with children up to 10 years of age you are in the right place. An adventure playground, whitewater course, the Space Runner, summer bobsled run and mini rafting are great fun. There is also a fairy tale cinema, an interactive 3D cinema and much more.
On a 218-meter-long, free-swinging adventure rope bridge you have a good view of the park. From there you observe over ten native species of animals inside their enclosures. Lynx, wild boar, marmot & more can of course also be observed during a leisurely walk on solid ground.
You can reach the Steinwasen Park from your Schwarzenbach vacation apartment in about 30 minutes by car.
Hiking ih the Wutach Gorge
The largest canyon in Germany is certainly a highlight in a Black Forest vacation with children. The canyon and its side valleys offer a spectacular nature with steep rock faces and rushing waterfalls – pure adventure and always opportunities to play in the water. You can feel like you are in the Wild West or in a robber movie.
The good thing about it is that you never have to walk through the whole gorge. There are entrances and exits everywhere, so you can always decide for yourself how long you want to hike. Thanks to the good public transport connections, you can easily get back to your starting point.
Many tours require a certain surefootedness, hiking experience is an advantage. The hiking trail through the Lotenbachklamm gorge is considered particularly family-friendly.

Winter vacation with children
For children, the Black Forest is a wonderland, especially in winter. And there is a lot to discover and experience, which is only possible in the winter.
Skiing
Directly opposite your Schwarzenbach vacation apartment the ski lift Altglashütten with three downhill runs is located. The family run is suitable for beginners and therefore ideal for children. There is another family run in Seebuck am Feldberg. If the smaller skiing slopes are not enough for you, then we recommend extensive skiing days directly in the big skiing area Feldberg – where small and older children find everything a skier’s heart desires on 30 km of slopes and 14 lifts.
Sledding
Sledding fans do not have to walk far either. With the 100 m long sled run on the ski slope Altglashütten great fun in the snow is guaranteed – just across the street. Another 36 toboggan runs are listed here.
Christmas Markets
The Christmas markets in the region are particularly atmospheric. A visit to the Christmas market in the Ravennaschlucht gorge is an extraordinary experience. You can also combine this with a short winter hike through the valley. The market is only about 20 kilometers away.
If you would like to take other routes, we recommend a visit to neighboring Alsace. Many people find the romantic Christmas markets in Colmar and Mühlhausen worth a visit.
